As part of our process of continuous improvement here at SignSwift we deployed a new rendering engine today. It’s based on Microsoft’s Message Queue software and will allow us to render more digital signage slides simultaneously and to expand across more servers as needed to scale up.

We made the switch today and moved our blog over to WordPress, so it’s now running on our own site.

We are now hosted at our new data center, the switch over went well with less than 5 minutes of downtime as we completed the move of the database and all other settings. Thanks to our reliable Amazon S3 backed storage system we can switch new servers on and off easily and all your data is protected.

In the new year we’ll be moving to a new data center in Issaquah, WA. We’ll be upgrading both our servers and our connection to the internet. Sometime in January we will cut over to the new data center and you’ll find SignSwift faster than ever before. The switch will likely happen late one night so we don’t expect any downtime during working hours.
We look forward to serving all your digital signage needs from our new data center.
Happy New Year!

Displays like this would be awesome for digital signage and kiosks. Imagine being able to mount a single display that can be seen from all sides:

Digital signage is growing as an advertising medium in the ‘Digital Out of Home’ (DOOH) space but that’s not the only place that dynamic, digital signs can make a difference. Anywhere you have important information to communicate and a wall or other surface that people pass by you can use digital signage to maximize the impact of your communication. Schools can use it to promote calendar events like sports schedules, cafeteria menus, … Corporations can use it to spread messages from HR, for internal HR and to communicate key initiatives, mission statements or sales targets and achievements, and, of course, for employee of the month awards.
Healthcare is using it to explain check-in procedures and to promote awareness of flu vaccinations and good hand-washing habits. Quick-service restaurants are using it for electronic menu boards.
So take a look at your information communication needs and figure out which can be best met with digital signage.

Here is our new home page. It’s cleaner and simpler and we hope it helps convey the message that SignSwift is just really really easy to use.
As we get further into the small business market we are also looking at some of the wording that the rest of the industry uses and finding it just plain incomprehensible to our customers. Digital Signage or DOOH mean nothing but more and more small businesses are becoming aware of digital signs that they see elsewhere and are beginning to ask – can I do that for my business? Of course the answer until recently has been maybe/no since it’s been cost prohibitive but we hope to change all that!
